ABSTRACT

Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is defined based on the modified Dandy’s criteria of 2002. Various theories have been put forward stating its etiology; however, obesity and obstructive sleep apnea are commonly associated with it. A CSF opening pressure greater than 25 cm H2O is consistent with the diagnosis of IIH; radiological studies play a significant role in its management. The various medical and surgical modalities of treatment are discussed in this chapter, with a note on malignant idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
