ABSTRACT

Because the need for successful interaction in communication influences one’s understanding, it urges speakers to at least have good pronunciation in order to avoid misunderstandings between speakers and listeners. Therefore, this research aims to discuss the utilization of automatic speech recognition to enhance Indonesian EFL students’ pronunciation skill through Google’s Voice Search Application (GVSA). The method for this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The participants of this research were five undergraduate female students who are studied from Non- English major. The data were collected using an observation checklist and test items. The data in this research is analyzed using percentages analysis. The result of this research showed that the students were able to enhance their pronunciation skills especially in the plosives consonant /t/, fricative consonant /s/, nasals consonant /m/, and approximant consonants /w/ and /l/, pure vowel /e/,/i/, and /æ/, and diphthong vowel/ej/ by using GVSA. Henceforth, it means that the importance of having a good pronunciation as show previously is one of the important aspects that must be pressed for Indonesian EFL students.
