ABSTRACT

The research summarizes the latest published works in the most modern applications, theoretical developments and new designs of the sandwich structures consisting of metal and/or core (honeycomb, foam or corrugated plates), where the advantages are combined because there is a great need to reduce the mass and costs. Analytical models and methods of analysis of sandwich structures are shown by representative problems. The most important applications of the sandwich structures included in this review are centered around aerospace and marine engineering including shipping and Air Containers. Lightweight cargo containers provide a huge savings compared to conventional containers. According to the IATA calculations, the weight of fuel required to carry 1 kg additional weight per hour 0,04 Kg. The researchers suggest further research into the global container industry.
