ABSTRACT

The anthropogenic activity has influenced the area of the Northwest Bohemia (the Czech Republic) in many ways in the past 100 years. Many small historic landmarks were in the landscape that is now changed—some of them are still on their spot, but a lot of them are missing or forgotten. The aim of this paper is to introduce the database of stone crosses in the area of the Ore Mountains and their foothills to maintain and visualize the cultural heritage in the internet environment. The resulting comprehensive information system includes the database that contains the available historical landmarks, their history, photographs and localization. The database is connected to a web mapping application that allows visualization of the objects of interest together with processed old maps. A photogrammetric survey was used to create 3D models of the stone crosses. These 3D models are available within the database and the web mapping application.
