ABSTRACT

Tokaj observation (or viewing) tower is a relatively new landmark of the Tokaj wine region erected in the vineyards between the villages Malá Tŕňa and Černochov. The construction of this modern and attractive tower is 12 m high and its unusual shape resembles a wooden wine barrel. The tower offers beautiful views on the Tokaj vineyards and their surroundings. Load carrying structure of the Tokaj observation tower is created by an interesting and effective combination of several materials. This combination includes i) glued laminated timber members, ii) steel members with flexural rigidity, iii) steel members without flexural rigidity and iv) ThermoWood members.
