ABSTRACT

Building information modeling, further Building Information Management (BIM) technology is on the rise of use nowadays. BIM Technology’s implementation for its wide use has many barriers. One of them is the low knowledge about this technology, not only among the practitioners of the AEC Industry (Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry), but also among students, as the future practitioners. Nowadays students, as young people gaining their knowledge through the educational system, are the future for using innovative effective technologies for better and enhanced processes within wide spectrum of activities throughout the AEC industry. This article reveals the case study on the current situation of level of knowledge of the students in tertiary education, their view on the modern computer modeling and management and also on the current business operations and tracking barriers of implementing the BIM technology as a future in computer modeling. Case study is based on results from the questionnaire filled in by students studying the BIM subject. The aim of this paper is to reveal possible barriers for BIM Implementation from the view of students, future practitioners.
