ABSTRACT

Advanced nanocomposites are known as a new class of materials which are embedded into metallic, ceramic, or polymeric matrixes in nano-dimensional phases. Various applications in biomedical technologies, tissue engineering, bone replacement/repair, drug delivery control and dental-related researches have aroused interest to applicate such compositions among the scientists worldwide. Laser-assisted methods have been approved for easier, cost-effective and faster synthesis of pure nanocomposites in comparison with the conventional methods. This chapter will discuss the current efforts and key research challenges in developing the subject by the application of different laser techniques including the laser ablation, laser assisted self-propagating of high temperature synthesis, laser cladding, laser pyrolysis, selective laser melting, hybrid laser technique, laser spinning and laser printing.
