ABSTRACT
The developing knowledge about cancer biology suggests that anticancer treatment with high doses of the anticancer drug is not always appropriate, because it may cause different side effects. Thus, the scientists have found an alternative approach to anticancer treatment in synergistic organic compounds which already exist in many therapeutic plants and oils. Natural peptides have many advantages in comparison with synthetic anticancer compounds. Development of drugs for the treatment of cancer has a long history. Many scientists in the latest 90th put an effort on searching effective anticancer drug, either in natural products or newly synthesized compounds. Cancer causes many human deaths. Current therapies include surgery (i.e., removal of the solid tumor), chemotherapy (administration of anticancer drugs) and radiotherapy (treatment with X-rays) and these treatments are not satisfactory. Nanotechnology could help in the efficient delivery of specifically targeted drugs into the cells as well as improved their action (increasing of bioavailability).
