ABSTRACT
This chapter details specific tests that may be required when routine ocular examination does not identify a cause of the patient's symptoms – when ocular examination is normal. The author highlights the importance of identifying which patients require further investigation or evaluation so ‘hidden pathology’ is not missed. The chapter reminds the reader that non-organic vision loss is not a diagnosis of exclusion, but requires positive findings to demonstrate that the patient can see more than they are claiming.
