ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the Cs-adsorption properties of Prussian Blue Analogues (PBA) along with examples of nanoparticle and composite preparation. Fabrication of nanocomposites is generally applied to improve their utility in actual use. In view of real-world applications, granulation or immobilization onto matrices is effective. For the preparation of nanocomposites, adsorption speed and capacity are the main factors used to evaluate the Cs-adsorption performance. Utilization of the PBA nanoparticles is effective for fabricating an adsorbent with an organic matrix because homogeneous attachment onto the matrix is possible. The effect of producing smaller particles to improve particle size homogeneity was clarified for nanoparticles synthesized using micromixing. Preparation of PBA nanoparticles and composites containing them are important to reach the full potential of PBA during practical use. In general, operation procedures are limited if the adsorbent is a powder or slurry.
