ABSTRACT

This paper discusses the potential for beatbox to be used for teaching music education in the 21st Century. Contemporary teaching and learning are needed in order to fulfill manifestations and adaptations to environments that are much more complex than those of the 19th century. This discussion was made possible by collecting previous studies and literatures and making some observations about musical landscape changes that happened before the 20th century and the present, so that we can predict the next century as well as set future program plans for music education. The conclusion shows that beatbox can be used as an innovative way for teaching music in the 21st century music education classroom. This strategy can also fulfill cultural empowerment in the field of music education. Beatbox in music education can be use as method, strategy, or even an instrument for teaching music in very interesting ways.
