ABSTRACT

This study aims to describe the steps of teaching musical scales and identify how far the ‘PILKABE’ strategy increases learning outcomes of Grade 7A students of Junior High School 2 Tanjungsari in Semester 2 in the 2017/18 academic year. This study was conducted by classroom action research. The results showed that the ‘PILKABE’ strategy could increase students’ learning outcomes. In both Cycle I and Cycle II, the highest score was 100 and the lowest score was 50. The average score in Cycle I was 75 and in Cycle II was 85.94, so there was an increase in average score of 10.94. The classical mastery in Cycle I was 80% while that in Cycle II was 93.75%; thus, there was an increase in classical mastery of 13.75%.
