ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to discover the significant effect of the Rinding Gumbeng music skills and musical appreciation at SMK Negeri 2 Wonosari Gunungkidul. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a pretest/post-test control group design. The data were collected by way of a test and questionnaire. The data were analysed by using a Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) test. The results showed that there were significant differences of the Rinding Gumbeng music skills and musical appreciation between students who were taught with collaborative learning and those who were taught with personal learning, at SMK Negeri 2 Wonosari Gunungkidul. This was indicated by the post-test results of the MANOVA test with the Hotelling’s trace value of 0.000. It can be concluded, therefore, that there is a significant effect of the implementation collaborative learning on the students’ Rinding Gumbeng music skills and their musical appreciation.
