ABSTRACT

This study provides an approach for developing the musical ability of teachers in Panti Dewi Berbah Sleman kindergarten through vocal learning. The research used the Classroom Action Research method during July 2018. The results show that providing vocal learning approaches, increasing the musical ability. Based on the assessment results for each basic indicator that includes basic abilities (tone, rhythm and tempo), singing ability (sound production, articulation, intonation, frequency), and additional abilities (expression, interpretation and appreciation) teachers obtained an average score of 73.7, which is in the medium category while the learning process is in the good category. Thus, the action research with the help of good learning media that was conducted by training teachers to understand singing well, to be more sensitive to tone, rhythm and tempo and how to better express, interpret and appreciate songs, succeeded in helping develop the musical ability of teachers in Panti Dewi Kindergarten.
