ABSTRACT
The Rokan Hilir hymn song is a compulsory song known by members of Rokan Hilir society in Riau Province, Sumatra, Indonesia. This song has become an identity marker for Rokan Hilir society because the lyrics contain glorious hopes and stories about how the Rokan Hilir Regency was established. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The analysis of the song in this research has presented several data results: Rokan Hilir hymns ong consists of two parts with a sentence order of A and B (A A’ B A”). Sentence A serves as a the first theme and sentence B as the second theme, while A’ and A” sentences are repetitions of the first theme with an insignificant change of tones.. The Rokan Hilir hymnsong generates emotional effects for the society through understanding, memorizing justifying and implementing every lyric in the Rokan Hilir hymnsong.
