ABSTRACT

Labour with a Caesarean section often gives pain for several weeks due to incisions in the abdominal area. Pain management therapy is pharmacological and non-pharmacological. Music therapy is recognised as one form of complementary therapy that has the aesthetic aspects of music. The aim of the present study is to summarise ten journal articles about the effect of music therapy for post-Caesarean mothers. The study uses a meta-analysis method involving journal articles that discuss the effects of music therapy for post-Caesarean mothers. The results show that the ten journal articles in the meta-analysis summarise the effects of music therapy on the reduction in pain levels in the post-Caesarean section. It can be stated that music therapy can help reduce the level of pain in the post-Caesarean surgery because pain impulses sent to the brain are hampered by the impulses of the classical music that are also sent simultaneously to the brain.
