ABSTRACT

Acute coronary syndrome remains to be one of the major causes of death globally and in younger people in India. Initial assessment of acute coronary syndromes which comprise ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction and unstable angina is important to risk stratify and possibly reduce the mortality. In this chapter, we discuss risk stratifying the population in acute coronary syndromes by utilising traditional electrocardiogram, stress test, biomarkers and various scoring methods.
