ABSTRACT

A 12-year-old female presents to the emergency room for the evaluation of chronic diarrhea and abdominal pain. She had a known history of Crohn's disease. This has been ongoing for several months. She also has a prior history of a perirectal abscess drained at a local hospital. She was subsequently referred to your hospital for further workup. She is a pale, thin, frail appearing girl. Infectious diarrhea workup is negative. A CT scan performed in the ED demonstrates the evidence of colonic strictures. She is admitted to the hospital. A colonoscopy is performed which demonstrates transmural thickening and inflammation with a tight and narrowed portion in the colon.
