ABSTRACT

Since parks were first established, visitors to public recreational facilities have tolerated pestiferous insect, arachnid (i.e. ticks, mites, spiders, etc.), plant and other biological organisms. Most persons seeking a picnic site consider the presence of any of these pests undesirable and prefer sites free of such pests. The presence of ants not only decreases the potential enjoyment of a picnic or outing, but their bites and/or stings can result in pain, leaving a more lasting impression.
