ABSTRACT

In low numbers and certain urban settings (i.e., apartments), pharaoh’s ants may not be a noticeable pest. However, in other situations, pharaoh’s ants are a dangerous medical threat to man. I reached this conclusion after decades of personal experience in Central European hospitals. During this time, I also learned how difficult it is to control the pharaoh’s ant. This paper will discuss the health problems posed by Monomorium pharaonis, followed by methods of control.
