ABSTRACT

Although over half of the annual farm income is derived from livestock and livestock products, most arthropod pests are controlled by pesticides and very little effort has gone into alternative control methods. Less than 100 scientists work in the area of biological control of livestock pests. In order to be very efficient, biological control agents must be incorporated into a total integrated pest management scheme. A review of what biological control organisms look most promising and the critical needs for the future is given.
