ABSTRACT

Some elementary advice on how to give an oral presentation may be useful. This chapter shows that students will have only 5-15 minutes in which to present their findings, a short time in which to discuss the results of several weeks of research. If students have a single lens reflex camera and are already an insect photographer, they may wish to devote some time specifically to photographing their subject's behavior. There are many super-8 movie cameras that require no experience to operate successfully. Films can be useful if students wish to describe or analyze a complex or rapidly performed activity, or if they wish to make a film to illustrate their oral presentation. Many students have done work of publishable quality in animal behavior courses, and some have succeeded in producing a short paper based on their class project.
