ABSTRACT

In recent decades, the technology of wireless internet and smart phones has been growing fast, and social media information is transmitted instantly. Music videos (MVs) especially have exerted a great influence on the young generation. Animations have been used as a means to attract customers’ attention with a commercial purpose. In most cases, some human characters in videos are transformed to animated characters in the animated MV. The design of an animated character determines the success of an animation video. This research has adopted the focus group methodology, questionnaire, One-Way ANOVA, to analyze the design of different characters and discuss whether they will affect the young generation’s perceptions. The results indicate that people are more attracted to puppet animations than to 2D animations and 3D animations, and puppet animations also impress the audience more.
