ABSTRACT
Since the reform and open-up policy was carried out, Hainan State Farm underwent three main operational modes of Family Long-term Contract, Shareholding Cooperative System and Workers Self-support Economy. The operation efficiency differed in different farms under the three operational modes. This study chose two output variables the total products and the products value of rubber and two input variables the rubber tapping area and the workers number. The technical efficiency of the three modes was calculated and decomposition analyzed. The results showed that, under the first two modes, the improvement of technical efficiency depended on scale efficiency, whereas, under the third mode, it depended on the improvement of pure technical efficiency.
