ABSTRACT

The aim of waste management is to reduce waste formation and to use resources more efficiently and rationally, ensuring that the waste of one sector is used as a raw material in another sector as per Indian legislation. The industrial sector is growing day by day and at the same rate, the industrial effluent is increasing. There are numerous techniques available to treat the industrial effluent (liquid) and reuse within the plant (ZLD). All types of waste have their own rules to follow for treatment, management, storage and disposal. This chapter gives an idea about the treatment of different type of waste as per rules and shows the Indian scenario for all waste types.
