ABSTRACT
In 50 short years, DSP has progressed from quality signal processing
to entirely new fields of computing, machine learning, and artificial
intelligence (AI). It has also penetrated into almost every area of
human endeavour, from manufacturing to commerce to healthcare,
pointing to new directions with profound impact on world economy
and humanwelfare.Withmachine learning andAI on par or surpass-
ing human performances in areas such as pattern recognition and
complex decision making (in Chess and Go), we are on the brink of a
brave new era when even the most personal human services such as
medicine are increasing dependent on AI.
