ABSTRACT
In this chapter we propose a combined distance-shape-texture signature trio feature for recognizing the expressions from face images. Distance, shape and texture signatures have great significance in recognizing emotions. The accurate landmarks extraction from the face image is a challenging task in the field of human emotion detection. An appearance model is used to identify the proper landmarks on the faces. These proper landmark points are used for the formation of a grid on the human face. Now triangles are identified among the grid and texture regions are marked from salient landmark points. The distance signature, shape signature and texture signature are determined from the grid and salient landmark points. The distance signature, shape signature and texture signature are used to get a distance-shape-texture signature trio feature for facial expression recognition.
