ABSTRACT

Images of the nano-world obtained with powerful microscopes allowed me to see wonderful forests, flowers and dust clouds. I saw the cosmos mirrored in the microcosm, similiar to the way the branched-out structure of minerals mirrors the peripheral area of a neuron, or the atomic structure of certain polymers, or even the shape of a tree or a coral. Portuguese author Fernando Pessoa has described the idea of ‘one single multitude’ and I was inspired to show the coexistence of different creative forms that do not necessarily lead to unity in a work of art.
