ABSTRACT

Ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) as well as alkyne metathesis polymerization were combined with traditional polymerization techniques such as precipitation polymerization or surface grafting and used for the synthesis of functionalized polymer beads. By this approach, a large variety of functionalized supports as well as polymer-immobilized catalysts have been prepared and subsequently used for applications in separation science such as chiral high-performance liquid-chromatography (chiral HPLC), high-performance cation- and anion-chromatography (HPIC), and the selective extraction of lanthanides. Finally, they have been used in heterogeneous catalysis, e. g. for palladium-mediated coupling reactions (Heck-type reactions, aminations).
