ABSTRACT

New developments and decreasing costs of electronic appliances enable the realization of pervasive systems in our daily environment. In this paper, we study the applicability of component based middleware solutions in the domain of eHome systems. To achieve a cost reduction of the development process, using middlewares is essential. Hence, we compare the development effort of one particular eHome service on different middlewares. Furthermore, we prove that the development effort can be reduced even more by using composition support for service components in a specific domain.
