ABSTRACT
Seismic technique has been used in’coal industry of China for 40 years.
Several tens new coalfield and coal production areas were found by this technique in the past. Combining with drilling boreholes, it has finished more than 200 areas with primary, detailed, or precise exploration reports. That leads to the formation of integrated Exploration Technique especially suitable for the geological environment of China.
In recent years, a new seismic technique focused on mining design service has been developed to meet the demands of integrated machinery mining technique from large or extra – large coal mines including Huainan, Huaibei, Pingdingshan, Shenmu, Luan, and others. This new advancement supplies more reliable and more accurate geological results for coal production and coal mine construction.
This paper illustrates the advancement of seismic technique in coal industry of China with practical examples, which includes high resolution seismic, coal production seismic, high precision 3D seismic, lateral coal predicting, VSP, and cavern seismic technique.
