ABSTRACT

The distribution, occurring and developing of geological hazards are spatial, the influencing factors of which have their own features and complexity. The GHMIAS developed by the author is a kind of applied GIS with typical geological hazards as its key objects, and with management and analysis of spatial information as its main functions. This system has unique spatial analyzing model expansion. It combines the vector and raster format, permitting mutual transform of various data formats. With its manifold mapping functions and high quality map output, it can produce thematic maps quickly. Lots of analyses have been made on hazards distribution, occurring mechanisms, influencing factors as well as developing trends of regional geological hazards in Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan area, and valuable results of land subsidence process and developing trend in Tianjin city have been obtained. These applications show that GHMIAS can play an important auxiliary role in solving geological hazards distribution, occurring and developing regularities, prediction of their evolution.
