Mineral Reserve Estimation by ANN Technique in Termes of Neighborhood Information

Artificial Neural Network (ANN) technique is an attractive approach for pattern recognition. This paper describes a procedure to use ANN technique in reserve estimation in terms of neighborhood information instead of the information from the whole study area so that a successful result will be insured. A case study of application of this ANN approach to make block and point estimation of a highly variated and irregularly sampled gold deposit is given. The results are satisfactory and encouraging. A comparison between techniques of ANN and Kriging was made.
