ABSTRACT

The dislocation peculiarities in crystals possessing the spontaneous magnetization are reviewed. The results are presented of a direct experimental study by the polarization-optical method both of the microstress fields around individual dislocations and of their interaction with the magnetization in domains and domain walls in ferrimagnetic single crystals. Effects of dislocations on the dynamic transformations of domain structure and of the fine structure of domain walls including the excitation of nonlinear solitary waves of magnetization (dynamic magnetic solitons) are described. Experimental data concerning the characteristics of such solitons are adduced.
