ABSTRACT

Structure of amorphous metals can be regarded as being obtained by random packing of tetrahedra and octahedra. In the present paper the number ratio of octahedra to tetrahedra is estimated from the distribution of distances of atom pairs bisecting four edged Voronoi faces. It is also shown that in the network showing the connectivity of the polyhedra the rotation of the bonds should be conserved at the nodes of lines threading non-crystalline rings.
