The force required to move https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> 1 / 3 < 1 ¯ 1 ¯ 23 > https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780429070914/679f2623-d509-4a65-a488-93e3a3b19d40/content/eq767.tif" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/> dislocations in polycrystalline hcp 4He was measured. The force increases sharply with decreasing temperature, but reaches a plateau at 0.8 K and 1.4 K under 30.5 atm and 76 atm, respectively. Plateaus revealed below the temperatures correspond to tunneling of dislocations through the Peierls potential.
