ABSTRACT

In order to investigate the solute-atmosphere dragging stress of dislocations, stress change tests were conducted during creep deformation of Al-Mg alloys, and the drag stress was determined separately from the internal stress due to inter-dislocation interaction. It is found that the dislocation density estimated from the drag stress is correlated well with the internal stress. This finding supports the Cottrell-Jaswon theory on solute-atmosphere dragging.
