ABSTRACT

At the present time two-jet plasmotron finds wide-spread application to plasma spray coating technology, spheroidization of particles, in the field of spectroscopy, and so on. This is explained by the factors such as the simplicity of its construction, the convenience of plasma flow controlling, high efficiency of gas heating, long living time, stability of jet parameters. This chapter considers two-jet plasmotron as plasma stream generator for thermal decomposition of dispersed materials in plasma-chemical reactor. Two-jet plasmotron DGP-50 consisting of two plasma torches or electrode units disposed under an angle has been developed in the Institute of Physics of Kirghizian Academy of Sciences. For two-jet plasmotron effective application and for selection of optimum regimes of its operation it is necessary to have an idea about the association between plasma characteristics and outside parameters: arc current, gas-forming consumption, working gas flow consumption and channel sizes of plasma torches.
