ABSTRACT

Based on the Navier-Stokes equations and the standard k-ε turbulence model, the mathematical model for the turbulent flow through a turbine spiral casing is set up when the boundary conditions, including inlet boundary conditions, outlet boundary conditions and wall boundary conditions, have been implemented. The computation and analysis on internal flow through a spiral casing have been carried out by using the SIMPLEC algorithm and CFX-TASCflow software for fluid flow computation so as to obtain the simulating flow fields. The calculation results at the design operating condition for the spiral casing are presented in this paper. Thereby, an effective method for computing the internal flow field in a spiral casing has been explored.
