ABSTRACT

Tseng-Jan proposed ID-based cryptographic schemes based on Maurer-Yacobi’s scheme. Hwang-Lo-Lin modified Tseng-Jan’s user identification scheme to make it suitable for the wireless environment. In this paper, we show that Hwang-Lo-Lin’s user identification scheme is vulnerable to the forgery attack. Therefore, we propose an improvement of Hwang-Lo-Lin’s scheme to resist to the forgery attack. The proposed scheme not only eliminates the security leak of Hwang-Lo-Lin’s scheme, but also reduces communication and computation costs as compared with their scheme.
