ABSTRACT

The Extended Kantorovich Method (EKM) is used to study bending of sector plates with clamped edges subjected to non-uniform loading. The governing equation includes a forth order partial differential equation (PDE) in cylindrical coordinates. The solution procedure based on the EKM is to convert the governing equation to two separate ordinary differential equations in terms of r and δ. The obtained ODE systems are then solved in an iterative manner until convergence was achieved. It is shown that similar to other application of EKM in Cartesian coordinate system the convergence of the method is vary fast. Comparison of the deflection of the plate at various points of the plate shows very good agreement with results of finite element code ANSYS.
