ABSTRACT

In this paper a mesh-free method for electromagnetic transient simulation is presented. This method enables to simulate electromagnetic problems avoiding the use of a regular grid in the discretized model. The proposed method is a particular mesh-free method based on particles, that is no initial regular grid but only an arbitrary particles distribution is required. Thus the particles can be thickened only in little spots, where the electromagnetic field varies rapidly or in those regions in which particular objects have to be simulated. Maxwell’s equations with the assigned boundary and initial conditions in time domain have been numerically solved by means of the proposed method. The first application results referred to a simple canonical case has shown that the method has a great potentiality with a reduced computational complexity.
