ABSTRACT

This paper proposed a short-term hydro dispatch model based on the rule of making the benefit the most. For the optimal dispatch model is a large-scale nonlinear planning problem with multi-constraint and multi-variable, this paper proposes a novel self-adaptive chaotic particle swarm optimization algorithm to solve the short-term generation scheduling of hydro system in deregulate environment. Since chaotic mapping enjoys certainty, ergodicity and stochastic property, the proposed approach introduces chaos mapping and an adaptive scaling term into the particle swarm optimization algorithm, which aim to increase its convergence rate and results’ precision. The new method has been examined and test on a practical hydro system, the results are promising and show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed approach, compared to the traditional particle swarm optimization algorithm.
