ABSTRACT
Healthcare services need to be able to demonstrate effectiveness and efficiency—high clinicalvalue and value for money. Organisations are required to look very closely at how costs can be reduced or modified while at the same time having the objective of maintaining and improving quality of care. In this chapter, the authors set out a methodology for outcome measurement recording and analysis. The basic principles for outcome measurement recording for inpatient therapy services are very similar to those for outpatients. There are several hundred methodologies in use for the assessment and recording of outcomes, but it is not the purpose of the chapter to explore. The horizontal axis of the graph can be used to indicate a variety of clinical outcome measurement scores that can be set against the vertical axis, enabling the Matrix to be used for a variety of outcome measurement methodologies. .
