ABSTRACT

For the nearest decade, the Earth's urban population will first exceed the half total number of the people living on our planet The concentration of people in towns, powerful technological impact on the geological environment, insufficient geotechnical preparation of areas, excessive extraction of natural resources-all these increase the vulnerability of humans and urban technosphere under the action of natural disasters. However, we can decrease their consequences and, in a number of cases, even prevent hazardous natural processes in case of realization of reasonable city designing policy, creation of a system of prediction and prevention of hazardous phenomena.
