ABSTRACT

Ultrasonic borehole TV (BHTV), by means of scanning of the ultrasonic wave can provide the instantaneous 360° image of the borehole. With this technique, we can obtain the occurrence of stratum, joints and fissure's dip and dip angle, the occurrence and width of fault, the geometric form of cross section of borehole, the width and depth of borehole breakouts, size and position of cave and other important logging data. In this paper, the applications of the BHTV test results in geoscience are discussed in detail.
