Scienti©c studies using titanium dioxide photocatalysis to purify water began almost four decades agoandsincethenresearche¨orthasdiversi©edintoseveraldi¨erentapproaches.Oneofthenewest methodsiscombiningtitaniumdioxideandanadsorbentmaterialtocreateintegratedphotocatalytic adsorbents(IPCAs).§ischaptersurveysandcriticallyreviewsstudiesinvolvingIPCAssynthesized usingtitaniumdioxideandactivatedcarbon(AC).Abriefintroductionandhistoryofphotocatalysisisincludedandthetechnical,environmental,andeconomicadvantagesofIPCAsareoutlined.
