ABSTRACT

Supramolecular systems are assemblies of two or more individual molecular components, held together throughnoncovalentforces.§eseintermolecularinteractionscanincludehydrogenbonds,electrostaticinteractions,π-stacking,andthehydrophobice¨ect.1-5 In general, intermolecular interactions are weakerthancovalentbondsandthusreversible.Suchreversibilityisanimportantfeatureofsupramolecularsystems, contributingtothefunctionsthatcanbeobtained, anddictatingthatdynamicsplaya crucial role in de©ning the characteristics of the system.
