ABSTRACT

The World Wide Web (the Web) has been primarily constructed from static HTML pages. The static page always displays the same information regardless of individual user selections or personal preferences. In recent years, there has been a strong movement toward a more dynamic approach for Web page design. Web pages can now be created on the fly, customized to an individual viewer’s requirements, and linked with database servers to provide accurate, up-to-the-minute data. Internet Database Connector (IDC) is a technology developed by Microsoft to allow the execution of an SQL statement against a database and represents the results in an HTML page format. An access database will be used to support this sample application. Any directory that will be accessed by the Web server (IIS) has to be defined in the administration section of the Web server. The Add Entry button will appear on the search results screen only when there are no records in the result set.
