ABSTRACT

Many problems of elasticity theory, electrodynamics, aerodynamics, and building mechanics are reduced to different types of singular integral equations, singular integro-differential equations and differential equations. This chapter is devoted to approximate methods of solutions of differential and integral equations using the characteristic functions of the differential and integral operators as the interpolation polynomials. Using the interpolating polynomials, the chapter investigates approximate solutions of singular integral equations with constant coefficients, an approximate solution of a singular integro-differential equation from the diffraction problem, and an approximate particular solution of ordinary differential equations.
